Every May, Google holds its annual developer conference, Google I/O, and every May, the marketing industry spends two weeks debating terminology. This year was no different, except the stakes are considerably higher. At I/O 2026, Google announced Gemini Intelligence, Gemini 3.5 Flash, Gemini Omni, Gemini Spark, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Veo, Lyria, Imagen, Flow, Stitch, Stitch Agent, Pomelli, Antigravity 2.0, Android Halo, and a new laptop category called Googlebook.
